Derek Hood has established a reputation as one of Britain’s leading design based fine bookbinders. Years of experience in fine bookbinding have enhanced his knowledge and led him to attain the highest level of craftsmanship.

His books are bound by hand using a subtle combination of traditional techniques and contemporary design and all work undertaken is carefully considered and intelligently approached at every stage of production.

A well-sourced selection of fine leather and paper is used to preserve, protect and compliment the contents of each book.

Book edges are gilded using a variety of pure metals including gold, platinum and palladium leaf.

His award winning bindings have been exhibited in the Victoria & Albert Museum, The House of Lords, The British Library and the Grolier Club in New York. They are held in public and private collections throughout the world.
